Melvin Moore has passed away   On June 1 at 12:45 pm Melvin Moore passed away.   There are so many people in pain over his loss.  Nancy is very broken, but as a church family we seek to find God's profound grace to Melvin and us.   Melvin has undergone some of the most trying times in the last year.  It was a year ago almost to the day that we took him to the hospital for a terrible foot problem that was gangrenous from diabetic circulation problems.   I am reminded of the scripture: "But what do you think? A man had two sons, and he came to the first, and said, 'Son, go work today in my vineyard.' He answered, 'I will not,' but afterward he repented himself, and went. He came to the second, and said likewise. He answered, 'I go, sir,' but he didn't go. Which of the two did the will of his father?" They said to him, "The first." Jesus says to them, "Most assuredly I tell you, that the tax collectors and the prostitutes are entering into the kingdom of God before you. For John came to you in the way of righteousness, and you didn't believe him, but the tax collectors and the prostitutes believed him. When you saw it, you didn't even repent afterward, that you might believe him."  Matt. 21.28-32   As I knew Melvin, he began with difficulty, but finished well with man and God.   Funeral arrangements will follow in the next couple of days.   To read on, click HERE.
Update on Buzz's Medical Treatment After having so many problems getting any help from Fox Chase, Dr. Lupas said he would see what he could do. Apparently, he had talked with someone special at Pottstown Memorial Medical Center, who had, in turn, contacted the people at Fox Chase and was undoubtedly responsible for a change of attitude.   On Thursday afternoon, the finance woman from Fox Chase, called to tell Buzz that they were reconsidering his case, and suggested Buzz get "financial counseling" with them.  Shortly after, Dr. Ridge's people called, and told Buzz that they would schedule him for the exploratory procedure on Thursday, June 7.  Of course, this is only the beginning of the help that Buzz needs, but at least he will be in the hands of a reputable head and neck cancer specialist.    There were a lot of people offering advice and different avenues to explore which include ways for Buzz to be insured with good coverage, different specialists, and lots of prayers.  Thank you to all who have flooded us with email and donations!   We have set up a secure account to help pay his costs to date, any further medical hardships, and should his insurance come along, help covering his premium through this.    We will continue to pray that God will continue his provision, and for complete restoration.   Should you wish to contribute to his Medical Help, please click the Donation Button for a secured contribution. Pray Requests Please pray for Kennedy Kennedy has become a dear friend.  He is Muslim and very dynamic.  He is also a member of Still Waters Church.  The interesting thing about our relationship is that it is a constant reminder that "the truth will set you free."  Kennedy recognizes truth-it is important to him.  When he showed up at our shelter this winter, his life was a mess, but he holds some very high principles.  Justice is very important to him.   Kennedy spent many a night forgoing sleep just to talk.  He recognizes the truth when words are validated by actions.  Our conversations are about Jesus' teachings (not mine-I'm not that clever), and Kennedy tells me that he "will be my disciple."  However, I keep letting him know that if he is following me, he is in fact, following Christ.   Kennedy is still a Muslim, but is now a disciple of Jesus.  As he journeys this path, he has struggled in many areas, culminating in a decision to admit himself into rehab for his family, his friends and "the Truth."  We went together, Robin (a good friend and church member whos story is below), Kennedy, and myself, to do this.  He will be there for 3 to 6 months.   Please pray for him as he battles his personal demons, and as he grows closer to Christ.   Robin has a new Home!! After a very difficult time this winter, Robin now has her own place-half a house at that!  She received the keys yesterday, and we move her in today.  There are still some house wares that she needs.   Some of them are: Cleaning supplies, a Vacuum, Shower curtain, Trash can, A fan, Dish cloths & towels, A toaster oven, and if anyone can swing for the fence...  A gas grill.   She is such a blessing to us, and it is such a blessing to see God move so quickly on her behalf. The Ministries at MAIN Street MAIN Street Shelter Project Update We have been approved to begin construction on the Parish House basement.  We had our walk-through with our Code Enforcement Officer, and the Fire Marshal.  We were given the green light to proceed with renovations to begin preparations for our reopening of the Ministries at MAIN Street Homeless Shelter.   Our city officials are very supportive, and we have found, through the flood and this adventure, that we are very blessed with such highly gifted and compassionate people.   We are entertaining several youth groups this summer, who are helping with construction and cleanup.  HOME Depot is scheduled to do a ton of work on July 14th, and 1st Presbyterian Church in Pottstown has graciously donated showers, a washer and dryer (including installation) for the project.  We are working closely with the Pottstown Cluster of Religious Communities, and the TriCounty Community Network who have been the greatest gift from God to us!   We are a small volunteer organization and are struggling to find the time to send out all the thank-yous to everyone who has shown love to this forsaken community by their concerned donations and support this past winter.  They are on the way.   It has only been a year that the basement was a total loss due to the Schuylkill River flood last June.  Now, we are using the space to help those who society has deemed useless, and unwanted.  We have seen so many good people come forward to help in numerous ways, and we now begin a new journey toward real answers and help within our community.  The baptism of the flood has brought us into a "promised land" of blessing for the "least of these."    There will be a full report coming next week on our Main Street Shelter Page, www.BesideStillWaters.net/MainStreet.  Also, please visit Our Needs List page as we move forward.   Please contact us should you wish to help toward this adventure: The Ministries at MAIN STREET  75 East Main Street Pottstown, PA 19465 Phone: (610) 326-1120 or Email:  mainstreet@besidestillwaters.net Missionary Help Request Still Waters is a very poor church and ministry.  Our focus has always been toward those who are marginalized within our community.  They need a church too, where they do not feel embarrassed to congregate and share their unique difficulties.  When we ventured out to plant Still Waters, it has always been our leading to meet the many needs of the poor and homeless (which God has blessed us with), but part 2 of our "Mission" has always been to educate the Church about the plight of the poor, and give then viable ways of connecting to them through personal friendship and through ministry support.   This past year has been very difficult on many levels, not the least of, financial support.  If our entire church tithed without interruption, we would still struggle monetarily.  Poor and homeless people simply cannot support themselves, let alone a church... nor should they have to.   We are looking for ministry partners who might be interested in continual financial support of Still Waters as a Mission to Pottstown.  Might God use you to bless those with less in Pottstown, who need a gracious, compassionate church to help them walk through the struggles of life.  Churches, individuals, Organizations, would you consider helping to support Still Waters through consistent support?   I hate watching churches beg for money, and then spend it on luxurys like jets, building, expensive cars, etc., but could God be speaking to us in this time to take up the plight of the poor in just and generous ways?  Might we even find more of Him on the way?  Deut. 15.7-11   If you could help, please click the Donate button, and please drop us a line letting us know your care for our least.   Still Waters home churches & worship center 256 South Hanover Street Pottstown, PA 19465   Phone: 610-970-2444 Email:  ministry@besidestillwaters.net   Still Waters is a 501(c)(3) organization and your gift is tax deductible.
